Philadelphia Flyers
Philly Hockey Now: The Flyers were tired. That could not have been much clearer. Dallas came into Saturday’s matchup rested and ready to go, while the Flyers had played in a shootout game the night prior, before having to travel from St. Louis to Dallas. Regardless, the Flyers were dominated on Saturday night, falling 5-1 to the Stars.
The Flyers were on the road this past weekend, so while visiting a friend from college, I got the chance to attend a Boston University @ Quinnipiac hockey game. It was one of my first hockey games from the stands in a little while, which was a pretty fun experience. I love college hockey as a sport, so getting to a new barn was fun in itself.
Back to hockey, three Flyers prospects were playing for Boston University in the game. What did I see from them?
NHL rumors & news
New Jersey Hockey Now: On Friday, reports emerged, saying New Jersey Devils’ superstar Jack Hughes had suffered a “fluke”, off-ice hand injury. At the time of the injury, the length was unknown. Now, a timeline has emerged, revealing that the Devils have lost their star center for the long term. Hughes is expected to miss eight weeks. As we get to the end of the saga, it seems as if now the “how” is known. NHL insider Elliotte Friedman reports that he’s heard Hughes “slipped and fell and cut himself on some glass.”
New Jersey Hockey Now has been all over the story.
Boston Hockey Now: It was mayhem in Montreal! The Bruins-Canadiens rivalry may have felt dormant for a little while, but it was revived Saturday night. A pair of fights helped reignite the rivalry while the Bruins snuck away with a big road win in Montreal.
Colorado Hockey Now: Avs fans are probably keeping close tabs on their Western Conference opponents, specifically the Central Division. One rival just lost a key star. Dallas Stars defenseman Thomas Harley is out week-to-week with a lower-body injury. His time on IR began with Saturday’s game against the Flyers.
