If you’ve spent any time around Western New York, then you’ve quickly learned that this is a hockey and football town with a drinking and food problem. That is likely one of the truest statements we’ve ever seen in the more than 200 years that Buffalo has existed.
From Jamestown to Lewiston and everywhere in between, on any given Friday, Saturday, or Sunday night in the Buffalo area, you will find people of all ages and creeds on their way to or from a football or hockey game, practice, or workout. Whether it’s pee wee football and middle school hockey to division one sports and the pros, we love our sports and our sports love us.
If you have a little one that you want to get into hockey, you might not know where to start. If you need some help to get going, you don’t need to look any further than our hometown Buffalo Sabres.
Learn How To Skate From Alex Tuch & The Buffalo Sabres
There are quite a few benefits that come with having an NHL Franchise in our backyard.
Not only do we get to see professional hockey right in the middle of downtown Buffalo, but we also get the benefit of having some of the world’s best hockey players right in our backyard. It’s extremely common to see Sabres stars like Jordan Greenway, Tage Thompson, or Conor Timmins walking around Market In The Square or Wegmans.
Another cool benefit of having the Sabres right here is that there are plenty of opportunities for our youth and college teams to learn from them. From practicing at LECOM Harborcenter to playing for the Junior Sabres, the opportunities to learn from some of the best are right here. Now the youngest Buffalonians have a chance to learn how to skate directly from Sabres greats like Alex Tuch.
In partnership with his AT9 Foundation, Alex Tuch and the Buffalo Sabres are offering to teach kids ages 4-9 how to skate.
The Sabres Learn to Play Program provides 6 weeks of on-ice teaching, ticket vouchers to a Sabres home game, and a complete set of youth hockey gear.
There are sessions all over Western New York for kids to sign up and learn, and looking at the price, it’s pretty affordable. Also, kids who join Team Tuch will get the chance to skate at the KeyBank Center with Tuch.
