The Blues (6-9-4) have been nothing short of a letdown this season. They have tried to switch lines around, call guys up, send guys down, but it is just not working. Saturday night’s 4-1 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights was another reminder that it is time to look for trade options, and the Blues are open to hearing out the options.
It was announced on Sunday that the team is willing to listen to trade offers. Here are three players who might be on the block.

Pavel Buchnevich
The first person that comes to mind when hearing about trades is Pavel Buchnevich. He has had an unfortunately terrible start to the season, especially when he’s supposed to be a top contributor. Right now, Buchnevich sits 9th in team scoring with just 2 goals in 19 games. On top of that, he hasn’t been any more help defensively, posting a -8 rating. Both of his goals have come on the power play, which is well below expectations for a guy who has consistently put up 20-plus goals a season for the Blues.
At 5-on-5, he looks out of rhythm, out of sync, and honestly, a little lost. Some people think the fix might just be benching him for a few games, giving him a chance to reset, but it might not be that simple. When a player with his resume and responsibility struggles this much for this long, it opens the door for discussions that wouldn’t have happened even a year ago. It might be time to at least consider parting ways and trying something new, because the current version of Buchnevich just isn’t moving the needle.
Jordan Kyrou
The next person who could be on the trade block is Jordan Kyrou. Now, this one is a little different. Kyrou has actually been one of the few players who’s consistently contributing offensively, so it’s not really about performance. But he also holds one of the higher trade values on the roster. If the Blues are serious about changing the direction of the team, moving someone like Kyrou—who is young, skilled, and signed long-term—could bring back a major return.
It’s not that Kyrou has played poorly. He hasn’t. But sometimes a team reaches a point where “not playing poorly” isn’t enough. Something needs to change in St. Louis, and Kyrou is one of the few assets who could realistically bring in the type of impact player the Blues desperately need. Trading him wouldn’t be easy, and it wouldn’t be popular with everyone, but it also might be one of the only ways to shake things up enough to matter.
Brayden Schenn
Last but not least, there’s someone you wouldn’t expect: Captain Brayden Schenn. Even though he’s the captain, he has been a major letdown so far this season. Schenn has just 2 goals and 4 assists through 19 games, along with a brutal -13 rating. It’s not just that the numbers are low—it’s the way he’s been playing. Schenn is known for being the heartbeat of a team: physical, emotional, and always engaged. But this season, he just hasn’t looked like himself. His age, contract, and leadership role make him a complicated trade piece, but the fact that his name is even entering the conversation says a lot about where this team is at.
Where Do the Blues Go From Here?
At this point, the Blues are stuck. They aren’t out of the race, but nothing they’ve shown suggests a turnaround is coming on its own. Listening to trade offers is one thing, but making an actual move is what will shape the rest of the season. Whether it’s unloading a struggling veteran or cashing in on a high-value asset, something has to change. The team’s identity has been unclear all year, and the right trade could either spark a run or help reset for the future. Standing still isn’t an option anymore.
