On Monday evening, the Leafs confirmed that GM Brad Treliving would meet with the media on Tuesday, which led to a massive amount of speculation over the reasoning.

Mired in a five-game losing streak, the Leafs had a very intense practice on Monday, with head coach Craig Berube stopping the session at one point and scolding his group for what he perceived to be a weak effort.

Scott Laughton was also injured during their slump, but projects to return to the lineup at some point over the next 2 or 3 games.

On Monday, Brad Treliving caught many by surprise when he confirmed his plans to meet with the Toronto media on Tuesday. He did not reveal what he plans to address during the session.

Speculation Grows Over Brad Treliving’s Unexpected Press Conference

Attempting to shake up his roster, Treliving has been working hard to find a trade partner. Unfortunately, he has been unable to do anything significant, unless you count clearing David Kampf‘s contract as that.

The main concern circulating on social media is that Treliving may announce that one of the injuries to Matthews or Stolarz is more significant than the team originally indicated.

Typically, with these types of sudden press conferences, the reason is to announce something significant, so this likely isn’t a small issue, whatever it is.

If it’s not regarding an injury or a trade, perhaps the Leafs GM is preparing to announce some sort of hiring, or even a potential firing.

Could Treliving entertain the idea of stepping down? The timing of this presser is certainly piquing everyone’s curiosity. Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait until tomorrow to find out the reason behind the quarter-season presser with the GM.
