Guenette was a restricted free agent. Per the Flyers, they have agreed to terms on a one-year two-way contract with the defender.

Guennette is a right-shot, 6’2″ defenseman who was selected in the seventh round in the 2019 NHL Draft by the Senators. He has played eight games in the NHL during his career, including seven in 2024. Guenette last played in the NHL on March 16th, 2024.

The Flyers’ new defenseman has played most of his career in the AHL, including 2023-24, when he was an alternate captain for the Belleville Senators. In 178 games in the AHL, Guenette has tallied 27 goals, 89 assists, and 116 points. He also has a career +/- of -4. However, his +/- in his most recent two seasons was 18.

The Flyers sent defenseman Dennis Gilbert to the Ottawa Senators in exchange for Guenette. Gilbert was waived by the Flyers before the final roster was submitted, but remained with the Flyers to open the season since Cam York started the year on IR. Since he cleared waivers initially and never appeared in a game, Gilbert was able to head straight to the Phantoms.

In his six games in the AHL, the 29-year-old defenseman has a single assist. Gilbert played four games with the Senators last season.
