Toronto Maple Leafs

Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews and defenceman Chris Tanev were on the ice prior to the team’s morning skate, reports TSN’s Mark Masters.

This is the first time Matthews has skated since sustaining a lower-body injury on Nov. 11 against the Boston Bruins. Head coach Craig Berube previously said Matthews was expected to miss about a week.

The 28-year-old Matthews has tallied nine goals and five assists over 17 games, his 10th year in the NHL after the Leafs selected him first overall in 2016.

Tanev was placed on injured reserve on Nov. 2 after suffering an upper-body injury against the Philadelphia Flyers.

The 35-year-old has two assists in eight games this season. Before departing on Saturday, he had one assist in 14:50 minutes of ice time.

Ottawa Senators

The Senators have recalled Stephen Halliday and defenceman Lassi Thomson from Belleville of the AHL.

Halliday was selected 104th overall by the Sens in the 2022 NHL Draft and had one goal and 16 points in 15 games in Belleville this season.

Thomson, the former 19th overall pick in 2019, has three goals and four points in 15 AHL games this season.Dallas Stars.

The Stars have recalled defenceman Vladislav Kolyachonok from the AHL’s Texas Stars.

The 24-year-old has four goals and 14 points in 74 career NHL games with the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Arizona/Utah franchise.
