Chicago Blackhawks Recap, News & Tidbits
Chicago Hockey Now: ICYMI, the Blackhawks stormed back from a third-period deficit to defeat the Toronto Maple Leafs 3-2 on Saturday. While the Blackhawks won for the fourth time in the last five games, they also lost their captain for an extended period due to an injury.
The Blackhawks have been banged up in their forward group recently. Nick Foligno has joined Jason Dickinson on injured reserve, and neither will play on Tuesday against the Flames. Dickinson returned to practice last week and participated again on Monday, but he’s still not fully ready to rejoin the lineup. Tyler Bertuzzi, who missed Saturday’s win over Toronto, was absent again from practice and is listed as a game-time decision against Calgary.
Just before practice began, there was a surprise appearance in net from none other than Laurent Brossoit, who’s been a ghost for most of his time with the Blackhawks. After signing a two-year contract with the Blackhawks in July 2024, Brossoit missed all of the 2024-25 campaign after undergoing knee surgery. Brossoit also underwent a hip procedure before the start of this season, which has kept him off the ice until Monday. I believe this is his first appearance in general since signing with Chicago. Glad to see him back!
Here’s a development: Laurent Brossoit is on the ice before practice.

Sportsnet: The Toronto Maple Leafs are 8-9-2 through 19 games, with 13 of them coming on home ice. Is this Maple Leafs season beyond saving?

Boston Hockey Now: The Boston Bruins are a bruised and battered bunch these days, writes Andrew Fantucchio from BHN. The B’s are down Charlie McAvoy, Viktor Arvidsson, and Casey Mittelstadt at the moment.
New Jersey Hockey Now: The New Jersey Devils are also dealing with several injuries, with the latest being Cody Glass going on injured reserve with an upper-body issue.
Florida Hockey Now: Coming into Monday, the Florida Panthers sat just one point ahead of last place in the Eastern Conference. That’s notable for Blackhawks fans, as they own the Panthers’ unprotected 2026 first-round pick, stemming from the Seth Jones for Spencer Knight swap. Well, Florida moved up in the standings a bit after an 8-5 win over the Vancouver Canucks in an offensive frenzy.
