The Boston Bruins placed forward Johnny Beecher on waivers, and the Detroit Red Wings must act fast if they want to claim him.
The Bruins’ 30th overall pick in 2019 took part in six games with the Bruins this year, being a healthy scratch for most games this season.
Last season, the 24-year-old center scored 11 points in 78 games with Boston.
No official explanation from the organization has been made yet, but the team is currently dealing with many injuries throughout the roster.
But as of now, it doesn’t seem like he’ll clear, as many teams are poised to be interested in claiming him, including the Detroit Red Wings.
Wings Could Claim Centerman on Waivers From Boston
Many organizations in the NHL are looking to add depth at that position, making Beecher’s odds of clearing waivers quite thin.
The renowned NHL insider Elliotte Friedman reported that both the Montreal Canadiens and the Vancouver Canucks could show interest:
Habs reporter Nicolas Cloutier shared interesting details about the Wings, saying they will have priority over the Canadiens to get him:
“The waiver priority order is determined based on the NHL’s reverse standings (according to points percentage) at the time the team claims the player – so today.
The Canadiens are tied with Detroit today at .605.
The tiebreaker is the win percentage excluding the shootout.
Detroit moves ahead of Montreal in the priority order.
The Canadiens are 22nd in the waiver priority order.”
The official verdict will come at 2 p.m. ET. Make sure to stay tuned for all the latest updates.
