A former Detroit Red Wings star was suddenly promoted as interim head coach of the Moscow Dynamo in the KHL.
The past few months in the life of the former Detroit Red Wings legend Vyacheslav Kozlov have been eventful, to say the least.
Back in June, the former Russian five-star was hired by Sochi HC as head coach but was let go before he could even work behind the bench in a regular-season game.
The general manager of the team, Igor Grigorenko, explained the decision in a press conference:
“We have made a balanced decision and we are heading into the new season with new tasks and ambitious goals. The priority of the club and the new head coach, whose name we will announce soon, is the development of hockey and the younger generation.
I am confident that with the support of numerous fans, we are able to return Sochi to the Gagarin Cup.”
A few days later, Kozlov returned to Dynamo, where he had worked as assistant coach since 2021, only to get another promotion due to a new development in Moscow.
