DETROIT – It was a good night for young Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday, and an old one, too.
Rookies Nate Danielson and Emmitt Finnie scored goals, and 38-year-old Cam Talbot made 20 saves in a 4-2 victory over the Seattle Kraken at Little Caesars Arena.
Danielson’s goal was his first point in his fifth NHL game. He also assisted on Finnie’s power-play goal. Axel Sandin-Pellikka contributed an assist to make it a four-point night for Detroit rookies.
Dylan Larkin sealed the victory with an empty-net goal with 30 seconds remaining. It was his 12th goal and 600th career point. Lucas Raymond had a goal and an assist.
The Red Wings (12-7-1) have won back-to-back games. Seattle fell to 9-5-5.
The Red Wings scored three goals in the second period and led 3-2 after 40 minutes.
Raymond tied it at 1-1 at 1:19. His shot off the rush handcuffed Joey Daccord; the puck went off his glove and into the net. It was his sixth goal and extended his points streak to five games (two goals, eight assists).
Danielson scored at 2:04 when Axel Sandin-Pellikka’s point shot deflected in off his skate after first getting tipped by Mason Appleton.
Danielson appeared to score his second goal with a nifty move around the net at 5:01. But it was disallowed following a coach’s challenge for offside as video showed Finnie crossed the blue line just before the airborne puck.
Finnie’s power-play goal at 10:56 snapped a 2-2 tie. He took a pass from Danielson and whipped in a shot from the slot for his fifth goal and first point in 11 games.
Jordan Eberle opened the scoring on the power play with 58 seconds remaining in the first period. Ryker Evans scored at 7:26 of the second to tie it at 2-2.
The Red Wings continue a three-game homestand Thursday against the New York Islanders (7 p.m., FanDuel Sports Network).
