Vancouver Canucks Reports Confirm They Aren’t Finished Making Moves Following the David Kampf Signin

Vancouver Canucks' Search for a Center Continues

The Vancouver Canucks still remain the most injured team in the NHL, and despite signing David Kampf, they are still incredibly weak at the center position, with Filip Chytil still out, and Elias Pettersson not playing like a first line center, the Canucks are still in search for some help up the middle.

“There’s still not a return date for Filip Chytil’s return to the Canucks lineup, because when dealing with a concussion, one day he could be feeling fine and the next he could be dealing with some of the lingering symptoms such as headaches, blurred vision, etc.”-Stinson

Canucks no luck in finding a center.

Dave Hall of Canucks Army expressed his sarcasm when responding to a recent tweet claiming the Canucks are still in search of a center despite the Kampf signing. Clearly demonstrating that Kampf is not nearly enough in fixing this massive problem they have created for themselves.

This wouldn’t have been such an issue if Pettersson were performing more like a number one center should. Coming into the season we expected a whole new Pettersson, bigger, stronger and full of confidence. But we still see too much hesitations making plays, and a sense that he is just lost out there at times. And simply put he doesn’t shoot nearly enough, he has just 23 in 15 games, an average of 1.53 per night, which simply isn’t good enough.

Next you add the fact that GM Patrick Allvin did not want to overspend in the summer on a center and now they have none left, relying on Chytil who is now on his fifth concussion, and quite frankly after a certain point he shouldn’t even be playing anymore. But he has shown that he is injury prone, and Allvin took no precautions in having a backup plan.

The Canucks are going to have a hard time finding a center now during the seaosn, and if they do it won’t be cheap. Hopefully this is a lesson learned for the future for Allvin and the head office.
