Complete dominance is the best way to describe No.6 Penn State as a team this season. It takes a team full of committed and talented players to earn an undefeated record 14 games into a season. In fact, some of those players are inching closer to individual history.

Here are some players who are on pace to break individual Penn State women’s hockey history entering the eighth series of the season.

Tessa Janecke – Forward (Most career goals)

The Orangeville, Illinois, native has continued her elite collegiate career halfway into her senior year. Fresh off breaking 100 assists, Janecke enters the weekend only three goals shy of breaking the career goal record.

Natalie Heising currently holds the record with 74 career goals, a record that hasn’t been reached since 2022.

With half the season left to be played, she looks to cement herself as the most elite player in Penn State hockey history.

Kendall Butze – Defenseman (Points and Assists by defenseman)

Butze has been a point-earning machine this season, with almost all coming from assists. The defenseman currently sits at 64 career assists, tying with second place.. Those assists have helped her become second in career points, as a defenseman, as well with 75. Both categories are in reach of sole possession for the senior.

For the assists, the current holder for the most by a defenseman is Izzy Heminger with 65. Only one assist away from tying with Heminger ,the Cleveland, Ohio, native has the chance to make history quickly and become one of the most elite defenseman in team history.

However, Butze stands five away from tying the points career record by a defenseman as Heminger holds that record as well with 80. In what may take more time to reach, the senior looks to earn six more points in a season only halfway through.

PSU Women's Hockey vs Lindenwood, Katie DeSa Prepares 1

Goaltender Katie DeSa (35) prepares for the action during the Penn State women’s ice hockey game against Lindenwood in Pegula Ice Arena on Friday, Oct. 24, 2025 in University Park, Pa. The Nittany Lions beat the Lions 6-1.

Katie DeSa – Goalie (Shutouts)

The netminder has been nothing short of phenomenal this season. The Nittany Lions are allowing under one goal per game. DeSa has played a huge role in that as she has recorded six shutouts this season. Fresh off earning a shutout against Syracuse in Game 1 of her recent series, DeSa has reached 19 in her career, only one short of tying the record.

Josie Bothun currently holds the record in shutouts with 20. At the rate Penn State has been playing throughout this season, the Pawcatuck, Connecticut, native could make history in the near future.
