The Winnipeg Jets announced they have signed team captain Adam Lowry to a contract extension to keep him in a Jets uniform for the next five years.
Lowry, 32, now in his 12th NHL season, all played with the Jets, has signed a five-year contract extension with an average annual value of $5 million US, the club said in a Wednesday media release.
The extension will kick in beginning in the 2026-27 NHL season.
Lowry was selected by the Jets in the third round of the 2011 NHL entry draft.
Last season he set a career high for goals (16), game-winning goals (4) and plus/minus (+18) while adding 18 assists for 34 total points.
He added another four goals in last year’s Stanley Cup playoffs, including a dramatic double-overtime winner that eliminated the St. Louis Blues in Game 7 of the opening round and sent Winnipeg to the second round, where they would go down to the Dallas Stars in six games.
Since Lowry was named captain of the Jets in September 2023, the club has compiled 120 wins and 250 points, while also posting the league’s lowest goals against average (2.40), the Jets said in their media release.
Lowry has recorded a total of 122 goals and 154 assists for 276 total points in 782 NHL games, while also racking up 420 penalty minutes.
He also won a silver medal with Canada at the 2022 World Championships, recording nine points and four penalty minutes in 10 games.
