After 7 weeks, some of our picks for buy low/sell high have either started to produce or have tapered off after a strong start. Listed below are the next round of options that fantasy hockey managers should look to steal at a low price, or trade away before it’s too late.

Fantasy Hockey Buy Lows
Gabriel Vilardi – Winnipeg Jets
Gabriel Vilardi was hot throughout October, but his numbers have significantly declined over the last three weeks. He’s only recorded 3 points in his last 8 games and is currently sitting on the wrong side of plus/minus. That said, Vilardi was a completely different player the month prior, having averaged over a point per game and was a +3 on the season.
Thankfully, his cold streak hasn’t convinced the Jets to pull him off the top line, and with Winnipeg still being a strong contender in the Western Conference, Vilardi will likely get back on track in no time.
Despite not producing much offensively, the 26-year-old accumulates multiple shots per game and is still featured on the power-play. Heading into week 8, fantasy owners should trade for Vilardi while many grow frustrated with him, as he’ll begin to produce with his coaches still putting trust in him.
Joseph Woll – Toronto Maple Leafs
After taking a leave of absence ahead of the season due to personal reasons, Joseph Woll has quickly transitioned into Toronto’s starting goalie following his return. With Anthony Stolarz being sidelined after sustaining an upper-body injury, Woll will be relied upon to help a Maple Leafs team that finds itself near the bottom of the Eastern Conference.
Through his first two games back, Woll performed well, but there continues to be a lack of belief that Toronto will turn things around after just breaking their five-game losing streak and being without Auston Matthews. Therefore, managers should aim to acquire Woll for a low price and take a chance on Toronto reverting to the team they were last year. Additionally, if the Maple Leafs begin to climb the standings, Woll could become the primary starter for the team even when Stolarz becomes healthy.
Fantasy Hockey Sell Highs
Nazem Kadri – Calgary Flames
Nazem Kadri was arguably the most valuable piece on a Flames team that finds itself at the bottom of the standings, but his production is slowly starting to diminish as Calgary continues to struggle. Similar to Vilardi, Kadri has only tallied 3 points throughout the month, but his face-off ability and performance in October have significantly inflated his overall fantasy rank.
Therefore, managers who currently roster Kadri should consider trading him to a team desperate for face-off wins, and in return obtain a player who is a consistent point-getter. Moreover, it will become increasingly more difficult to start Kadri on a nightly basis, as he will continue to be ineffective when it comes to plus/minus due to the team he plays on.
Joel Eriksson Ek – Minnesota Wild
Like Kadri, Joel Eriksson Ek’s fantasy value has skyrocketed because of his face-off ability, but his rank continues to rise because of being a physical force on the ice. Through 20 games, Eriksson Ek has recorded 225 face-off wins and has thrown 37 hits, while also being one of Minnesota’s best shooters. For peripheral stats, Eriksson Ek is one of the best centers to roster, but for those looking for points, the Swede has been inconsistent.
He’s averaged just over half a point per game through the season and has only scored 3 goals thus far. Therefore, managers with Eriksson Ek should sacrifice his peripheral value and utilize his rank to trade for a top goalscorer.
Going forward, managers should begin to make buy-low/sell-high deals quickly before their opponents become married to some players that they will refuse to offload closer to the trade deadline. Make sure to return next week for fantasy hockey buy-low/sell-high advice for Week 8.
