The Minnesota Wild won in a shootout against the Hurricanes.
(St. Paul, MN) — Minnesota goaltender Jesper Wallstedt stopped three straight shootout attempts and Matt Boldy scored the only goal as the Wild beat the Hurricanes 4-3 via the shootout on Wednesday night at Grand Casino Arena. The Wild blew 2-0 and 3-1 leads as the Canes pulled even late in regulation to force overtime. But in the end the Wild got both points thanks in large part to their rookie goaltender who not only stopped all three shots he faced in the shootout but also made 42 saves total including two in O-T. The Wild finish the homestand at 4-0-1 and have won three straight. Brock Faber, Boldy and Mats Zuccarello scored the goals in regulation. Minnesota now hits the road for three straight starting tomorrow night in Pittsburgh at 6 P-M. In other team news, the Wild placed Ryan Hartman on Injured Reserve and recalled Hunter Haight from A-H-L Iowa.
