After a short two-game road trip, the Philadelphia Flyers (9-6-3) are back in South Philadelphia, as they host the St. Louis Blues (6-9-5) at Xfinity Mobile Arena.

St. Louis has won just three of its last seven games in what has been a tough start to the season for the Blues. However, while they have won just one of their last four games, three of the Blues’ last four losses have come in either overtime or a shootout. That includes their shootout loss to the Flyers last Friday.

After an expectations-exceeding start, the Flyers have cooled off a touch. They have gone just 2-1-2 in their last five games, with one of those wins vs. a weaker Nashville team, and the other being a shootout win vs. the Blues.

Thursday is the Flyers’ annual Hockey Fights Cancer game.

The puck will drop at 7:00 p.m. EST at Xfinity Mobile Arena. Here is how the Flyers are expected to line up.

Things to Watch

Last time these two teams met, it was the breakout of the Dvorak line. Christian Dvorak has been really heating up. He is a player I am keeping a close eye on. Dvorak leads the team with seven points in his last five games. His linemates, Trevor Zegras and Owen Tippett, are also players worth monitoring. They combined for all five of the Flyers’ regulation goals in the last game against the Blues, as well as the shootout-winner.

It looks like the Flyers have broken up the Cates line. At the end of the game against the Stars, flipping Travis Konecny and Bobby Brink, moving Brink to the Couturier line with Matvei Michkov, and Konecny to the Cates line. I really like Konecny on a line with Cates and Foerster. I will be watching them closely.

Lastly, look for the Flyers to be more aggressive, especially in the neutral zone. The Flyers were being walked all over in the neutral zone and their defensive zone last week. There was plenty of emphasis put on improving that area of play this week in practice. Look for a better defensive performance by the Flyers, and also a faster start.
