The Detroit Red Wings continue their brief homestand on Thursday night, as they get set for a matchup with the New York Islanders.
The Red Wings are hoping they can continue their winning ways against a former Central Division rival. After a couple of tough results in their most recent homestand, losing three out of four at Little Caesars Arena, Detroit looked to turn things around in the current stretch of matchups in Hockeytown. After coming away with a spirited win over the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden on Sunday, the Wings posted a strong effort on Tuesday night against the Seattle Kraken.
Wings
Powered by Nate Danielson’s first two goals in the NHL, the Red Wings skated away ot a 4-2 win, giving the team back-to-back wins for the first time in three weeks, and putting Detroit in first place in the Atlantic Division.
The Islanders will be arriving in Hockeytown fresh off a 3-2 win over the Dallas Stars on Thursday night. The team on Long Island has been powered by the exciting rookie, last year’s first-overall pick, Matthew Schaefer. The youngster has provided a jump to the bumbling team, hoping to make them competitive in the Metropolitan Division.
