Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM)-
The Minnesota Wild kept their hot streak alive Thursday night, securing a 4-3 shootout victory over the Carolina Hurricanes at Grand Casino Arena to push their point streak to six games.
In a game that came down to the wire, the Wild watched their lead evaporate when Carolina forced overtime with a tying goal in the final moments of regulation. But Matt Boldy played the hero in the shootout, scoring the decisive goal in the third round to seal the victory.
Boldy’s clutch performance extended beyond the shootout, as he also found the back of the net during regulation play. Mats Zuccarello and Brock Faber contributed goals as well in the winning effort.
The victory keeps Minnesota firmly in the playoff picture, as they sit tied for third place in the competitive Central Division with 24 points.
The Wild will look to extend its point streak to seven games when it travels to Pittsburgh to face the Penguins on Friday night.
