A former member of the Detroit Red Wings was officially added to the injury reserve by his new team with a lower-body injury.
In his season with the Wings, Tarasenko, 33, scored 11 goals and 22 assists through 80 games.
A fresh start is what he needed, but in the end, things haven’t been working out too well for him in Minnesota.
Tarasenko Added To IR By The Minnesota Wild With Lower-Body Injury
Tarasenko took part in 18 games this season so far, scoring only two goals and eight assists since joining the Wild.
Considering he had a 40-goal season earlier in his career, it’s safe to say that the veteran forward hasn’t been able to keep his former rhythm.
The Wild organization confirmed the news in a post on X:
The season hasn’t been going too well for the Wild so far, who had high expectations after signing Kirill Kaprizov to a historic $17M AAV contract.
Kaprizov had an impact on the team, scoring 11 goals and 13 assists in 21 games, which only highlights the lack of offensive depth in Minnesota that was there even when Tarasenko was in the lineup.
In fact, the Wild remains undefeated without him in the lineup, having won the three games since he was scratched.
It’ll be interesting to see if there will still be a lineup spot for Tarasenko once he recovers from his injury.
