Brad Lambert is a highly touted Winnipeg Jets prospect. Selected 30th in the 2022 NHL Draft, Lambert had high expectations set on him.
In 2022-23, his final season in juniors, Lambert scored 17 goals and 21 assists in 26 games for 38 points.
Following that season, he joined the Jets organization, where, quite frankly, they have no room for any more forwards in their top-six, maybe even top-nine.
Lambert spent most of the last two seasons in the AHL, appearing in 125 games for the Manitoba Moose, scoring 28 goals and 62 assists for 90 total points.
His numbers dipped in 2024-25, with a substantial drop-off in goals: he scored just seven, compared to the 21 he tallied the season prior.
This season, Lambert has appeared in just four games for the Jets and two games with the Moose. Now, Frank Seravalli reports that the Jets have given Lambert permission to find a trade partner.

Should the Flyers trade for Brad Lambert?
It’s no secret that the Flyers do not have much in the pipeline at center beyond Jett Luchanko and Jack Nesbitt. Could making a move for Brad Lambert put the Flyers in a better position down the middle?
Currently, the team has Sean Couturier, Christian Dvorak, Noah Cates, and Rodrigo Abols down the middle. Dvorak and Abols are pending UFAs. The Flyers have their two top center prospects in the OHL. Trevor Zegras could still make an impact down the middle as well. However, he has proven that he plays much better on the wing.
A trade for Lambert would not only give the Flyers’ future down the middle a boost, but he could also make an impact immediately following a potential trade.
Looking at the possibility of a trade, there’s no certainty that Lambert will reach his potential. While ice time has been hard to find, he has undoubtedly slowed down. Lambert very clearly has some work to do to reach his potential; hence, the Jets are willing to let him find a trade partner.
He has just four games (and a goal) in the NHL under his belt this season. Lambert is averaging just a touch over nine minutes per game. Given how the Flyers’ roster has taken shape, there is no guarantee players will play more minutes per game in Philadelphia than in Winnipeg.
Lambert is still a high-end prospect, despite still not cracking the Jets’ lineup consistently. If the Jets trade him, it would not be to a team that would keep him in the AHL. There has to be a clear spot in the NHL for the prospect.
A trade package for Lambert would not be cheap. However, this is the sort of swing that can pay off for the Flyers not only now, but down the line.
