There were plenty of similarities between Thursday night’s game and last Friday’s between the Flyers and St. Louis Blues. Some were not-so-good similarities, like the Flyers falling into a two-goal deficit.

But others were good reminders of the Flyers’ resilience. They once again erased the deficit, and this time ended things in 3-on-3 overtime, as Travis Sanheim scored with 1:09 remaining in the extra session to secure a 3-2 win at Xfinity Mobile Arena.

Just like last Friday’s game, the Blues opened the scoring. At 5:31, Justin Faulk fired a shot through a screen that beat Dan Vladar for his fifth goal of the season to make it 1-0 St. Louis.

At 12:08, Faulk doubled down with a power-play goal, firing a one-timer past Vladar for his second of the game to make it 2-0.

Through 20 minutes, shots were 12-9 Flyers.

The Flyers finally broke through to get on the board with 2:03 remaining in the second period. Rodrigo Abols took a pass while cutting to the net and went upstairs on Joel Hofer for his first goal of the season.

Through two periods, shots were 21-17 Flyers.

The Flyers were able to tie things up at 11:49 of the third. Tyson Foerster ripped a one-timer past Hofer for his fifth goal of the season to even things at two.

That forced overtime, where Sanheim got an opportunity on a breakaway and scored his second of the season to give the Flyers the win.

Vladar made 27 saves on 29 shots in the win. Hofer made 25 saves on 28 shots in the loss.

Travis Konecny had two assists for the Flyers.

The Flyers are back on home ice on Saturday night to take on the New Jersey Devils at 7 p.m.
