The Toronto Maple Leafs have reportedly made two big players available to the Vancouver Canucks and the rest of the National Hockey League.

Trade talks around the National Hockey League are expected to heat up in the coming weeks as teams begin to figure out whether or not they have a legit shot at making it to the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

For the Vancouver Canucks, they’ve already been heavily involved in trade action this season, acquiring Lukas Reichel from the Chicago Blackhawks in late October and keeping an eye on some other players around the league as Patrik Allvin continues to search for upgrades down the middle.

The Canucks are expected to remain in the thick of things on the trade front between now and the deadline on Friday, March 6th and it looks like a pair of intriguing options from the Toronto Maple Leafs have been made available to teams around the National Hockey League, leaving Patrik Allvin with a big decision to make.

One team that’s been a surprise since the start of the season, and not in a good way, is the Toronto Maple Leafs, who sit 15th in the Eastern Conference with a 9-9-3 record through 21 games.

Toronto’s start to the season is leading to some bigger questions about who could potentially become available if the club decides they want to sell ahead of the trade deadline in early March.

During a recent edition of DFO Rundown, National Hockey League insider David Pagnotta revealed that two names from the Toronto Maple Leafs he’s heard are floating around on the trade market are forward Max Domi and defenseman Brandon Carlo.

“If they do anything impactful, they’re going to have to move dollars out. And if they really up their efforts to try to bring in somebody that can stabilize that top-six, you’re probably gonna hear names like Max Domi and Brandon Carlo.” Pagnotta said.

Despite an injury to Derek Forbort, it seems unlikely that the Vancouver Canucks would pursue a defenseman at this point, given their depth, which would lead to Max Domi being the only viable option of the two that are reportedly available.

The Winnipeg, Manitoba native is currently in his third season with the Maple Leafs and is under contract for two more years following the 2025-26 campaign with a cap hit of $3.75 million USD.

With Patrik Allvin continuing to search for centerman, Domi could be a good option for the club in a third line role and while he might not bring a ton in terms of offensive production, he can be a sparkplug for Adam Foote and bring a physical presence that they need.
