As the Edmonton Oilers move through the rest of the season, the team does have to figure something out to finally get over the hump. Following a second straight loss in the Stanley Cup Final, the Oilers have gotten off to a slow start this season.

Edmonton hasn’t come close to playing to its potential, and it’s been a frustrating start for the organization all around. One of the primary issues for this team has been the inconsistency in the goaltending.

This has been a concern of the team for a few years now, but the Oilers haven’t done anything to fully fix the problem. The Oilers have two quality options in net, Calvin Pickard and Stuart Skinner, but each has its clear flaws.

Both guys are very streaky, and if they aren’t on their game, the Oulers tend to give up a lot of goals. This has done them in come playoff time almost every season, and it has held the team back in all honesty.

Over the offseason, there were rumors that the Oilers were reportedly looking to make an upgrade at the position, but that hasn’t happened of yet. However, if this team does want to turn things around this season to get back to the Stanley Cup Final again, they may need to make some type of trade.

There have been a few names linked to the Oilers of late, and with the trade deadline coming up in a few months, we could see the team make a move. All the pressure is on this club to find success on the ice again; otherwise, it will be another wasted season.

Edmonton also needs to prove to star Connor McDavid that they can still win, especially because his contract extension this summer was only on a short-term deal. But how this all plays out remains to be seen, especially with how the Oilers have preferred to run things over the past few years.

This is just a prediction, NOT a report!

Jordan Binnington Traded to Edmonton Oilers

One option for the Oilers could be to go after veteran goalie Jordan Binnington of the St. Louis Blues. Binnington has been put into trade rumors for a while now, and with the Blues struggling again, it could see him being moved.

Binnington may be the best option for Edmonton to consider this year, and he could fully transform this team toward true title contention. The veteran has plenty of experience in the playoffs as well, helping St. Louis win the Stanley Cup back in 2019.

This year, Binnington has appeared in 14 games for the Blues, posting a 4-5 record for the season. Binnginton has put up a 3.30 goals against average, and a .872 save percentage for the season.

The numbers for the veteran have been a little higher than normal, but the Blues’ defense is somewhat of a mess. If he were to be playing with the Oilers defenders in front of him, it could change everything for him.

It could be tricky to pull him from St. Louis, but the Oilers may be desperate at this point. If St. Louis is selling, Edmonton should be doing whatever it can to bring Binnington into the mix.
