The Calgary Flames nearly made the postseason this year, but fell short due to an inconsistent offensive attack. So heading into the offseason, the Flames front office will be working to bring in more talent to help rectify that fact.

Calgary has multiple first-round draft picks to work with heading into the summer, giving them the ammo to potentially pull off a big deal. The Flames could be one of the more active teams across the NHL as they try to put together a contending roster.

One name that could help Calgary is St. Louis Blues star center Jordan Kyrou. Kyrou is one of the better players for the Blues, but St. Louis desperately needs to revamp its draft picks and farm system.

A potential deal between the Blues and Flames for Kyrou could be a win-win for each side. NHL writer Adam Gretz of Bleacher Report listed the Flames as a potential landing spot for Kyrou.

“The Blues’ draft pick capital has been severely depleted the past couple of years, as they own just three picks in 2025 (first, fifth and sixth round) and do not have a second-round pick until 2028…Trading Kyrou would be an extreme way to address it (and there might be other players they could move instead to do that), but it could bring the biggest and most significant return.”

Kyrou will be heading into the third year of an eight-year, $65 million contract extension with St. Louis. If the Blues do trade him, they could also help to reset the salary books moving forward.

This past year, Kyrou scored 36 goals and 34 assists for the Blues. His production was impactful for St. Louis, and it helped them get to the postseason.

If he were to end up with the Flames, it could be a good fit for both sides. But whether St. Louis wants to move him remains to be seen.
