Hockey Fights Cancer Night in D.C.

It was Hockey Fights Cancer night at Capital One Arena on Saturday, and the Caps took pre-game warmups with many of them sporting purple (the charity’s color) tape on their sticks. Four Caps, Alex Ovechkin, Jakob Chychrun, Rasmus Sandin and Connor McMichael, wore special hats.

Halfway through warmups, Ovechkin threw his hat to a fan in the front row.

Also during warmups, Tom Wilson lost and edge and skated hard into the boards. Teammates banged their sticks in applause as he got up, smiling.

Fans were given Hockey Fights Cancer rally towels. Several children came out to center ice before the puck drop, and cancer caregivers sang the national anthem.
