The Detroit Red Wings forward Lucas Raymond impressed with a potential goal-of-the-year candidate tally in Saturday’s game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
It’s safe to say Lucas Raymond took the assignment seriously, scoring one of the most beautiful goals so far this season in the entire National Hockey League.
Lucas Raymond Scores Spectacular Goal Against Blue Jackets
In the first minute of the second period against the Blue Jackets, Raymond scored what could end up being considered for the goal of the year in the NHL.
Right after a faceoff in the offensive zone, Raymond retrieved the puck before beating both Zach Werenski and Jet Greaves with a between-the-legs dangle and a backhand shot.
Indeed, he bounced back well, scoring nine points in the last five games, not including Saturday afternoon’s game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
After 19 games this season, the Swedish forward scored six goals and 16 assists with a +6 rating.
It’ll be interesting to see if he can maintain that rhythm and build momentum through the full regular calendar and help his team make a push in spring to return to the playoffs for the first time in a decade.
