Key Stories to Watch
The Chicago Blackhawks are coming off a terrible 9-3 loss to the Buffalo Sabres. It was unlike them this season, given their strong start otherwise.
Colorado won its eighth straight game on Saturday, defeating the Nashville Predators 3-0 thanks to a 35-save shutout performance from Mackenzie Blackwood. The Avs have three straight wins on the road going into this game.
Scott Wedgewood will likely get the nod between the pipes after Blackwood’s perfect game. Wedgewood leads the league with 12 wins.
Connor Bedard has had an incredible breakout season for the Blackhawks and has talked his way into a possible Team Canada Olympic roster spot.
Part of Chicago’s good start to the season has been the comeback season from Andre Burakovsky. The former Avs forward had injury issues in Seattle over the last three seasons, but found himself in Chicago this year in a cap dump trade. Burakovsky has seven goals and 15 points in 18 games. Unfortunately, he suffered an injury after taking a big hit from Ryan Lindgren on Thursday. Burakovsky did not dress in the Buffalo loss.
