Alexandre Texier officially signs $1 million deal with Canadian team

After the St. Louis Blues put fowrard Alexandre Texier on unconditional waivers for a buyout, he’s found a new home by signing a one year deal with the Montreal Canadiens.The era of Alexandre Texier with the St. Louis Blues came to an end recently, as they put him on unconditional waivers for the purposes of terminating his contract.

He cleared waivers and became a UFA, and was free to sign with any club in the NHL.

He’s now found that home, as he’s signed a one year contract with the Montreal Canadiens with an AAV (average annual value) of $1 million.

Texier played in only eight games this year in a Blues sweater and had a single assist.

Alexandre Texier Is Now A Member Of The Montreal Canadiens

Texier was taken with the 45th overall pick by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, and he’d play two years with KalPa in Finland before coming to North America to start his professional career.

He would split time between the Blue Jackets and their AHL affiliate Cleveland Monsters before going to play for the ZSC Lions in Switzerland in 2022-23 after the Blue Jackets loaned him to the club.

But in June of 2024, the Blue Jackets traded him to the Blues for a fourth round pick in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft. In his first and only year with the Blues, he’d play in 31 games and had 11 points (6G, 5A).

So far in his NHL career, Texier has 91 points (40G, 51A) in 240 games.
