Fantasy Hockey Schedule Preview
New Jersey Devils

The New Jersey Devils are currently on a three-game losing streak, but this season they have posted a 7-0-1 record at home, which is where they will play their next two games. Additionally, they’ll travel to New York to play the worst team in the Eastern Conference, the Buffalo Sabres, before finishing the week against the Philadelphia Flyers at home. Therefore, with the Devils having home-ice advantage and playing a weak team on the road, now is the perfect opportunity for managers to capitalize on some of their most underrated performers.

Although the Devils don’t have many offensive options on the waiver wire, picking up defencemen like Brendon Dillion or Simon Nemec will be beneficial for those in need of hits or blocks. Moreover, with Jacob Markstrom and Jake Allen also being available in several leagues, managers should consider streaming either goalie, especially against the Sabres or the St. Louis Blues.

Ottawa Senators

The Ottawa Senators have been hot through November, having posted a record of 6-1-3 in their last 10 games. This week, the Sens will play the Los Angeles Kings, who have been poor on home ice, a middling Vegas Golden Knights team as of late, and the struggling Blues. Although they will also play the dominant Dallas Stars on Sunday, picking up Ottawa players at the beginning of the week will save managers from using extra adds down the line.

To capitalize on the Senators’ schedule, owners should take a chance on forwards such as Dylan Cozens and Shane Pinto, who target almost every fantasy hockey category on top of producing consistent offense. Other solid options for this week include Claude Giroux for face-off wins and Artem Zub, who will provide managers with peripheral value.

Utah Mammoth

The Utah Mammoth will also have the privilege of playing the St. Louis Blues this week, but will look to build on their strong home record against two struggling opponents. On Monday, Utah will host the Vegas Golden Knights before welcoming the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday, who have lost five of their last six games. With the Mammoth also being just five points under the Dallas Stars in the Central Division, they will look to close the gap when they play them this Friday.

Utah doesn’t have much offensive upside on the waiver wire, but it could significantly help improve secondary stats throughout the week. Talent such as Ian Cole and Lawson Crouse are reliable for hits and blocks, while Jack McBain and Barrett Hayton are solid face-off options. The four players mentioned above are also on the right side of plus/minus as well.

Along with New Jersey, Ottawa, and Utah, the Washington Capitals and Tampa Bay Lightning also play four games this week, with beneficial matchups for players on both teams. Make sure to return next week for fantasy hockey schedule advice going into Week 9.
