Chicago Blackhawks Recap, News & Tidbits

Chicago Hockey Now: Following an embarrassing 9-3 loss to the Buffalo Sabres on Friday, the Blackhawks responded with much better play against a red-hot Avalanche team with only one regulation loss on the season. The Hawks controlled the action for 40 of the 60 minutes on Sunday, but they lacked the finished product. Wedgewood stopped all 22 shots faced to shut out Chicago for the first time this year and extend their losing skid to three games.

The Winnipeg Jets held their Hockey Fights Cancer night on Sunday, and each member of the team shared who they were fighting for as they entered Canada Life Centre to face the Minnesota Wild. Former Blackhawks captain, Jonathan Toews, showed support for Troy Murray, who’s battling cancer. A very classy move from Toews to provide love for his great friend, Muzz.

NHL Trade Talk, News, & National Hockey Now

Montreal Hockey Now: All eyes were on the Montreal Canadiens once Alexander Texier officially cleared waivers after mutually agreeing to a contract termination with St. Louis. The Habs officially signed the 26-year-old forward on Sunday.

New Jersey Hockey Now: The New Jersey Devils have lots of needs, such as a third-line center, and maybe even another top-six forward. But Quinn Hughes could really fix all of New Jersey’s issues if the club can find a way to have him join his two brothers out east.

More NHL.com: The Blackhawks return to play next on Wednesday against the Minnesota Wild, who have now rattled off five straight wins after defeating the Jets 3-0 on Sunday.
