Before the noteworthy run with the Gophers, or turning into an upper-echelon defenseman with the Wild, Brock Faber played for the Osseo-Maple Grove Hockey Association. He played on youth teams from mites to bantam.
KSTP Sports’ Darren ‘Doogie’ Wolfson recently spoke with Curtis Janicke, one of Faber’s youth coaches. It was clear at an early age how advanced Faber was.

Faber transitioned in high school to the U.S. Development Program in Michigan. He tried out when he was a sophomore and made the team.
He was taken in the second round of the 2020 NHL Draft by the Los Angeles Kings before being traded to his hometown Wild in a deal involving forward Kevin Fiala June 2022.
Faber, 23, is in the first season of an 8-year, $68M contract he signed with the Wild July 2024.
His journey to becoming an elite NHL defenseman began in Maple Grove.
