The Vancouver Canucks have officially seen their odds to make the Stanley Cup Playoffs drop off drastically following Sunday night’s loss to the Calgary Flames.
At the time, 42.8 percent seemed more than fair and it showed that while they have a lot of work to do, the Canucks could sneak into a wild card spot in the Western Conference, but after their poor start to the 2025-26 campaign, those odds have dropped off in a big way.
Vancouver Canucks Stanley Cup Playoff odds drop, first overall odds rise significantly
On Monday morning, less than 12 hours after their loss to the Calgary Flames, Noah Strang shared on social media that the Vancouver Canucks’ odds to make it to the Stanley Cup Playoffs in the spring have dropped to 6.1 percent.
Not only have their odds to make the Stanley Cup Playoffs dropped off, the Canucks have seen their chances of landing the first overall pick, where they’d have an opportunity to select Gavin McKenna, rise to 10.3 percent.
“MoneyPuck has the #Canucks more likely to earn the first overall pick (10.3%) than to make the playoffs (6.1%).” Strang said on X.
If Vancouver’s season continues to spiral downwards over the next couple of months, Patrik Allvin will need to pivot and become sellers ahead of the deadline, with guys like Kiefer Sherwood, Evander Kane and Teddy Blueger, who are on expiring contracts, potentially being trade chips for the Canucks.
