Vancouver Canucks fans are coming to the realization that Quinn Hughes‘ time with the organization may be over sooner than they would like amid poor start to season.

It has not been the start to the 2025-26 season that the Vancouver Canucks were hoping as Adam Foote’s group is now 14th in the Western Conference with a 9-12-2 record through 23 games and just two regulation wins in their last 17 games.

“#Canucks have two regulation time wins in their last 17 games” Harman Dayal of The Athletic said.

After dropping another two points in the NHL’s standings following last night’s loss to the Calgary Flames, the Vancouver Canucks’ odds of making it to the Stanley Cup Playoffs are continuing to dwindle and currently sit at 6.1 percent according to MoneyPuck, leading some to question whether or not the club should get ahead of the curve and trade Quinn Hughes now, rather than waiting until the deadline in early 2027.

Fans coming to realization Quinn Hughes’ time with Canucks could be coming to an close

As everyone is aware, Quinn Hughes is less than two years away from becoming an unrestricted free agent and is eligible to sign a contract extension next summer, but if he doesn’t feel that he has a chance at winning the Stanley Cup in Vancouver, there’s no question he’s going to turn his attention elsewhere.

“Request a trade, Quinn. It’s the only way this organization is gonna make a change and hopefully pressure [Francesco] Aquilini to step down.” @JB_nuckles said.

“Ask for a trade already!!! You deserve better!!!” – Crazy Canuck said.

“Poor guy. Deserves to be playing for a contender. It doesn’t serve Canucks fans or the team to have him any longer. They need to be drafting in the top 3 and he needs to he playing for a cup” @CoreyDa68268616 said.

Meanwhile, another fan went as far as saying that Quinn Hughes has already checked out and that it’s getting a lot harder to watch his post-game interviews loss after loss.

“He checked out of this team a few weeks ago, and it’s getting more and more painful to listen to his post-game interviews. I’m cool to start the grieving now!” one fan said.

For now, Quinn Hughes isn’t focused on the future, but if Vancouver is still in a similar position that they are now leading up to the trade deadline in March and Patrik Allvin feels that the club has zero chance of getting an extension done with him, then they should at least see what they could get in return for their captain and if it’s not what they want, they can always re-evaluate the situation in the offseason.
