Since the last update, the Belleville Senators have gone on a hot streak, and the Laval Rocket seem to be their kryptonite. The team went on a very strong 4-1-1 and is currently sitting at 9-7-2 and 4th in the North Division. Here is a quick recap of the six games Belleville played and who stood out on the farm.

November 12th: Belleville Senators @ Rochester Americans(6-4 W)

Coming into this game, we found out that Tyler Boucher is injured again and is out week-to-week. I feel bad for the guy, as he had a strong start to the season and was looking forward to having a season free of major injuries. The Sens came into Rochester and played the Americans evenly in the first, scoring twice before being badly outplayed in the second, yet somehow scoring the only goal. The third period is where things got crazy with both teams combining for seven goals. While their defensive games left much to be desired, Stephen Halliday contributed a pair of assists and Philippe Daoust added a goal and four points. Daoust, who was signed to an AHL deal after his ELC expired last summer, has unexpectedly had a red-hot start to his season. Hunter Shepard got the nod in net, facing 42 Rochester shots.

November 14th: Belleville Senators @ Utica Comets(4-3 W)

Utica seems to be the Buffalo Sabres to the Belleville Senators, a bottom-feeder that the team struggles against way more than they should. The first was a tight check, and Utica opened the scoring with two goals in the second period. Belleville turned on the jets in the third period, with Xavier Bourgault opening the scoring for the BSens, and later, Tomas Hamara registered his first point of the season as the Sens took a 3-2 lead. Utica tied the game up late, but Belleville managed to eke out a win in the shootout. Once again, Hunter Shepard got the start, made 25 saves and stopped four consecutive shootout attempts.

November 15th: Belleville Senators @ Syracuse Crunch(4-1 W)

Folks, welcome to the Jackson Parsons show. The score masks how badly the Sens were outplayed by the Crunch. Belleville only managed 14 shots all game to Syracuse’s 35. Parsons was virtually unbeatable in this game, and some timely goals from noted shot machine Xavier Bourgault, two more assists for Stephen Halliday and two goals for newly signed Mark Duarte helped steal a regulation win for Belleville.

November 19th: Belleville Senators vs. Toronto Marlies(4-0 W)

Jackson Parsons’ encore performance, while not as taxing as the previous game, was perfect, earning him his first professional shutout. Like their NHL counterparts, Toronto was listless and was thoroughly outplayed by their opponents. Oskar Pettersson opened the scoring mid-way through the first while Carter Yakemchuk took 5 shots on net, scoring a goal and registering an assist, and Arthur Kaliyev added another goal and took 7 shots.

November 21st: Belleville Senators @ Laval Rocket(4-3 OTL)

The return of Mads Sogaard. How did it go? The team in front of him didn’t play great, but this was a back-and-forth game with the teams trading goals. Arthur Kaliyev got the ball rolling with his tenth of the season. The BSens once again vanished in the second, getting outshot 13 to 4 and going down 3-2. The third period was evenly matched, and it looked like Belleville would leave the rink empty-handed. However, Xavier Bourgault played the hero, scoring the tying goal with 39 seconds left in the game to send it to overtime. Laval scored halfway through the overtime without Belleville registering a shot, and the BSens stole a point.

November 22nd: Belleville Senators @ Laval Rocket(7-2 L)

Dennis Gilbert chose a lousy game to make his Belleville debut in. This game was easily the worst outing of the last two weeks. A night after getting outplayed through two periods in Laval, the BSens continued their terrible play. This time Jackson Parsons couldn’t bail them out, giving up seven goals on 37 shots. Carter Yakemchuk registered an assist, and Philippe Daoust scored a goal and added an assist in the losing effort.
