The Detroit Red Wings defenseman Ben Chiarot was officially fined by the NHL Department of Player Safety for spearing Simon Nemec.

In last night’s game between the Detroit Red Wings and the New Jersey Devils, the veteran defenseman Ben Chiarot did a dirty move on the young defenseman Simon Nemec.

Indeed, with a few minutes left in the third period, the two teams engaged in a small brawl near the Devils’ net, when Chiarot speared Nemec with his stick, forcing him to retreat to the locker room immediately.

Nemec eventually returned to the bench, but Devils fans weren’t happy at all to see Chiarot get away with that gesture with no consequence on the ice.
