The Montreal Canadiens started the season looking confident, structured and defensively sound. That has all evaporated. They are 3-4-3 in their last ten games, and several of those saw the Habs give up a tremendous amount of goals. I know not everything can be blamed on goaltending, as St-Louis stated yesterday, but two of the goals from last night’s game vs Washington need to be saves. Unfortunaly. it seems like both of the Hab’s goaltenders have lost their confidence, and the team looks a lot like the one who missed the playoffs two years ago: giving up that extra goal.

I’m not quite sure what the solution is here…a lot of rumours are going around that the Habs are actively looking for a centre or winger. With Evan’s possible long term injury, this might be the course to take now. I mentioned Ryan O’Reilly in my previous article, and I really think it would be a good move, especially since he’s at 4.5 for this year and the next.

Matheson said that the team is forcing things, and I agree. The D are cheating a little bit too much which is resulting in quality chances going the other way. They need to reset and remember who and what they are. When the Habs are on their game, they are very tough opponents.

They need to find themselves again.
