The NHL officiating has once again missed the mark, as Lucas Raymond was hit by New Jersey Devils defenseman Jonas Siegenthaler, leveling him without the puck on his stick.
The ruling is in: as Tuesday passed with no statement from the NHL Department of Player Safety, no official discpline will be handed out.
If you thought that NHL officiating couldn’t get any lower, Detroit’s previous game against New Jersey was a new example.
The Detroit Red Wings faced off against the New Jersey Devils on Monday night, and the Devils were handed a win.
Instead of calling interference on Devils defenseman Jonas Siegenthaler after his hit that leveled forward Lucas Raymond of the Red Wings, they let the Metropolitan Division team continue.
Somehow, Raymond would get a roughing penalty, along with Siegenthaler.
The Detroit Red Wings Lose Another Winnable Game
It’s arguable that the Red Wings game against the Devils on Monday is where it’s clear that officiating has influenced the momentum of a game again.
Raymond would only be able to influence the game on his side a bit by adding 1 point (1 A) to his bucket tonight against the Devils.
Though we believe that he should’ve been a player who should’ve been on the power play late in the third and making the Devils pay.
The New Jersey Devils were able to snap a two-game losing streak thanks to the referees.
While one of the best teams in the Atlantic has to go home and lick their wounds while preparing for their next game against the Nashville Predators on the 26th.
