The Philadelphia Flyers (11-7-3) wrap up their season series with the Florida Panthers (12-9-1) with their third meeting in 22 games.
Florida has been banged up to start the season, as the team has not quite had the success that people have come to expect out of it. The Panthers are 3-2-0 in their last five games. On the other hand, the Flyers are 3-2-0 in their last five games, with two of their wins coming in overtime.
Philadelphia enters the game after a shutout loss to the Lightning, where neither team looked good. The Panthers had an offensive outburst in their last game, going off for four goals in the first 20 minutes. They scored a total of eight goals against Nashville on Monday.
Wednesday night should be a good fight.
The puck drop is at 7:00 p.m. EST at Amerant Bank Arena. Here is how the Flyers are expected to line up vs. the Panthers.

Things to Watch
Emil Andrae may have had one of his worst games in a Flyers sweater on Monday. He was just bodied by Brandon Hagel on the first goal, and was well out of position on the second. That is not Andrae’s game. He has shown he can play much, much better than that. So, I will be looking for an Emil Andrae bounce-back game. Maybe he finally finds the back of the net, or just has a better defensive game. Regardless, keep an eye out for a good game from Andrae.
Offensively, look for the Flyers to score in general. Monday was terrible. They struggled mightily. Any sign of life is an improvement from the last game. Look for the Flyers to be hungry. Some things to watch for: zone entries. Tampa did a great job blocking the blueline, forcing a game of dump and chase for the Flyers. Better zone entries and O-zone possession time are things I will be looking for specifically.
Dan Vladar is expected to get the start in goal on Wednesday. He has really taken hold of the team’s No. 1 goalie spot. Vladar made the first two starts of his Flyers career against the Panthers and allowed two goals in each game against the defending champs. Look for him to keep it up on Wednesday, especially with the game off in between.
Recent Matchups
Wednesday concludes the season series between the Flyers and Panthers. The Flyers took on the defending champs twice within the first three games of their season. Florida hosted the first contest, which was Philly’s season opener.
It was a low-scoring matchup. Anton Lundell started the scoring in the second period with a power-play goal. In the final minutes of the second frame, Noah Cates answered, scoring the first goal of the season for the Flyers. However, that would be it for the Flyers. In the end, Brad Marchand’s early third-period goal proved to be the game-winner.
The second game had a little more action. There were just as many goals in the first period of the second game as there were in the entirety of the first game. Tyson Foerster and Sean Couturier each added a tally in the first period. Sam Reinhart scored late in the period as well to cut the Flyers’ lead in half.
The second period was slow, but just around the halfway mark of the third period, Sam Bennett tied the game at two. However, the final 10 minutes of the game were all Flyers. Couturier scored his second of the game, followed by goals from Bobby Brink and Christian Dvorak (who tipped the Sanheim empty-net shot), giving the Flyers the 5-2 win.
