Left wing Jared McCann has been activated from injured reserve ahead of Wednesday’s 7 p.m. game against the Dallas Stars at Climate Pledge Arena.

The Kraken reassigned center Oscar Fisker Molgaard to their AHL affiliate, the Coachella Valley Firebirds, to make room on the active roster for McCann.

The 29-year-old McCann has three goals and four points in five games this season. He had been out with a lower-body injury, with his last game being on Oct. 18.

McCann will add offensive punch for the surprising Kraken, who enter Wednesday with an 11-5-6 record that ties them with the Los Angeles Kings for second place in the Pacific Division with 28 points. That’s just one point back of the first-place Anaheim Ducks.

An original Kraken who was selected by Seattle in its expansion draft in 2021, McCann was the team leader in points in each of their first four seasons. He had 61 points on 22 goals and led the team with a career-high 39 assists while playing in all 82 games in 2024-25.

McCann had a career-high 70 points and 40 goals in 2022-23 to help the Kraken reach the playoffs in just their second season in the NHL.

The Kraken have put together a strong record despite struggling to find the net thus far this season. Only three other teams in the NHL are scoring less than Seattle’s average of 2.59 goals per game.

Seattle has relied on an impressive defense so far this season. The Kraken rank second in the NHL behind only the Colorado Avalanche at 2.55 goals allowed per game.

Following Wednesday’s game against Dallas, the Kraken will host the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday, then get a few days off before heading to Edmonton next Thursday. They will then return to Seattle for three straight home games against Detroit, Minnesota and Los Angeles.
