The Boston Bruins picked up a 3-1 road win over the New York Islanders on Wednesday.

Boston ended its four-game road trip having been 1-2-0, and was looking to end on a high note. The Bruins trailed 1-0 early, before Alex Steeves tied it up not even two minutes later.

Tanner Jeannot then scored the lone goal in the second period, while Steeves scored short-handed for his second goal of the game in the third period. Steeves’ multi-goal game proved to be the difference, and he was happy he was able to contribute to the win.

“I’m not thinking I’m David Pastrnak or anything all of a sudden,” Steeves said on Wednesday, as seen on NESN’s postgame show. “But definitely gives me confidence and feels good to get rewarded on an individual level, but it feels even better to feel like I helped contribute to a really big win.”

Steeves had played in nine straight games since being called up and has been building trust with the coaching staff.

Although Steeves has to play a more defensive role in the NHL and with the Bruins, he was glad he was able to show off his scoring touch on Wednesday.

“I’ve always kind of, as a player, told myself that if you are getting the chances, it is going to come,” Steeves added. “For me, I had the chances tonight, and they went in. Never going to stop trying to make goalscoring a part of my identity.”

With the win, the Bruins are now 14-11-0 and in third place in the Atlantic Division.
