Welcome to another round of our buy low/sell high advice for fantasy hockey, with this week featuring some heavy hitters who are either overperforming or have been unable to produce as of late. Listed below are four players that fantasy hockey managers should acquire before they begin to pick up the pace, or trade before they start to taper off.

Fantasy Hockey Buy Lows for NHL Week 7
Mitch Marner – Vegas Golden Knights

Mitch Marner started the year hot, playing alongside Jack Eichel on the Golden Knights, but he’s significantly cooled off during November. He’s scored just 1 goal and tallied 7 points through 11 games this month, and has failed to produce on the power-play. However, with Mark Stone returning to Marner’s line on Wednesday, now could be the perfect time for managers to buy the Canadian winger before he reverts to his usual self.

It’s likely that November will mark Marner’s coldest stretch of the season, meaning this could be the only occasion that owners would be willing to hear offers for him. Most importantly, Marner’s fantasy hockey value is at its lowest in years after being a major point-producer for the Toronto Maple Leafs, and he could be acquired for a much lower price than expected.

Roman Josi – Nashville Predators

It’s understandable for managers to believe that acquiring Roman Josi could be a risk given Nashville’s recent struggles, but somebody on the Predators’ backend has to produce, and the Swiss defenseman will likely be that player after recovering from his upper-body injury. Through just 10 games, the former Norris Trophy winner recorded 6 points and should find himself back on Nashville’s power-play in no time. Most importantly, if managers can overlook Josi’s plus/minus rating for the time being, there’s a possibility he could be traded to a contending team with the Predators continuing to struggle.

Additionally, Josi being 35 years old could be an extra incentive for Nashville to move him before they start rebuilding. Josi should be consistent in his current role, but owners would be wiser to buy him early before he’s traded to a playoff team.

Fantasy Hockey Sell High
Logan Cooley – Utah Mammoth

On Tuesday night, Logan Cooley scored 4 goals in the Mammoth’s defeat over the Golden Knights, leading several managers to add or trade for him over the past two days. Last month, Cooley had another breakout performance when he scored a hat trick against the St. Louis Blues, meaning he’s scored 7 goals in 2 games this year. Unfortunately, he’s not been scoring much otherwise, having scored just 6 goals in the other 21 games he’s played.

Cooley has been one of the streakiest fantasy hockey players this year, having been reliable in plus/minus and face-offs, but often disappears on the scoresheet. For those who roster Cooley, it would be smart to trade him after his four-goal game for a more complete player.

J.T. Miller – New York Rangers

Although Rangers players such as Artemi Panarin and Vincent Trocheck have started to collect points, J.T. Miller is not living up to his new captaincy. Through 22 games, Miller only has 12 points and is a -7 on the year. However, his face-off talent and ability to throw the body have heavily inflated his fantasy rank.

For those who own Miller and feel comfortable with some of their peripheral stats, the centerman should be traded to obtain a player who can produce points on a nightly basis. Additionally, if Miller continues to struggle on the scoresheet, his rank will eventually begin to decline, making him less valuable as the season continues.

As many fantasy hockey leagues reach the halfway point of the 2025-26 campaign, managers should begin to capitalize on buy-low/sell-high options now rather than wait until the trade deadline. Make sure to return next week for buy low/sell high advice in Week 9.
