The Montreal Canadiens are quickly finding out what the Detroit Red Wings organization already knew about the forward Joe Veleno.

When he was drafted 30th in 2018 by the Detroit Red Wings, Joe Veleno was coming off an amazing junior career that saw him earn the exceptional player status in 2015 to allow him to play in the QMJHL at only 15 years old.

However, things haven’t turned his way in the NHL so far.

But this season, he hasn’t shown much in Montreal.

Veleno Only Scored One Point in Montreal This Season

After 16 games, Joe Veleno registered only one point, a goal. Albeit a great one, it’s not enough to convince NHL organizations about his future in the league.

If you missed it, check it out here:

He brings his speed and vision on most nights, but when watching the Canadiens games, it’s hard to see him stand out.

It’s not that he’s not engaged, but he’s often invisible during games.

Adjusting to a new organization takes time, and he still has time to show more to the Canadiens, even though the team signed Alexandre Texier to a one-year deal this week.

However, his recent goal surely gave him momentum, and it’ll be interesting to see him for the rest of the season.
