Last week things were looking quite bad for the Habs and a lot of questions were being asked if they should make a move at goaltending. Furthermore the power play was struggling and it seemed that the team could do no right. With two wins in a row, things are looking a little better and the goaltending has been there to a certain degree.

While the Habs got the win last night and Dobeš played a decent game, I found the third goal was a little weak. He seemed to be scrambling a bit and had difficulty tracking the puck. Earlier in the season I find he would have been more calm in that situation, and would not have been flopping around as much. At the end of the day however, Dobeš has two wins in a row and is looking far better.

When it comes to Montembeault, I think not panicking is the thing to do. Let DobeÅ¡ play some games and give Monty the chance to figure out his game. He’s proven to be a good goalie in NHL and he will figure this out.

Two Wins Bring Confidence

The game vs the Leafs was solid and the emotion brought by the Xhekaj brothers really made the game an entertaining affair. It was a much needed win for the Habs at home on a Saturday night vs Toronto and I think it gave them confidence going forward in the win vs Utah. I will say one thing, the Leafs are in trouble…they are a nightmare in their own end and with all the talent up front, I’m surprised at how disjointed they look.

The offence is really playing well but I love Noah Dobson’s game. He brings another dimension to team and he showed that during his strong game vs the Leafs. He controlled the puck extremely well all game and his goal on the one timer showed his high offensive instincts, speed and powerful shot.

In other news, the Habs signed Alex Texier to a one year, one million dollar deal. A low risk singing that will help mitigate injuries and can play in the bottom six. He does skate well and has high puck skills so we shall see.

Also, the Habs claimed Sammy Blais back on waivers from the Leafs. He will report to Laval. Hopefully we can find some stability going forward.

Lastly, I wrote an article last week the Habs should pick up O’Reilly and it seems that a TSN article confirms they are having those discussions! Fingers crossed! The price sounds high but Hughes is good at getting what he wants.

Montreal’s next game is tomorrow at 4PM vs Vegas!
