The team that the Detroit Red Wings would face in the playoffs if the regular season ended today has been revealed.
However, for the players, the goal is to be in the playoffs.
If the regular season ended today, the Wings would have a tough matchup in the first round of the playoffs.
The Wings Would Face the Ottawa Senators If the Playoffs Started Today
The Red Wings have been surprising people across the league with their performances so far this season, currently holding on to the second rank in the Atlantic Division.
In the current NHL playoff format, it means that if the regular season ended today, the Wings would meet the Ottawa Senators in the first round.
The Sens have been off to a great start considering that they have been without their captain Brady Tkachuk for weeks due to an injury.
After 22 games, the team is third in the division with an 11-7-4 record.
The two teams haven’t met on the ice yet this season, but four games are on the schedule: two in January, one in February, and one in March.
Of course, what would be interesting in such a matchup is to see Alex DeBrincat and Cam Talbot play against their former team and Dylan Larkin face Team USA teammate Brady Tkachuk.
