William Smith (5-1-0) is coming off of a thrilling overtime victory over SUNY Canton this past Saturday at The Cooler.
The Herons have won three in a row going into their latest contest Saturday against Bowdoin College as part of the 2025 Codfish Bowl at UMass Boston.
William Smith and Bowdoin will play in the Codfish Bowl semifinals at 4 p.m.
Bowdoin (3-2-0) comes into the Codfish Bowl on a two-game losing streak, its first two losses of the season.
In the Codfish Bowl, the Herons will play in two games during the weekend.
The other semifinal will be between the host UMass Boston (4-2-0) and Manhattanville University (2-4-0) on Saturday at 1 p.m.
The winners of the two semifinals will play in the championship game on Sunday at 4 p.m.
The losers will square off in a consolation game on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Through the early going of this 2025 season, sophomore forward Bella Hacker and senior forward Kelly Howe have led the way for William Smith.
Hacker leads the team with six total points while both Hacker and Howe are evened up with a team-high three goals.
William Smith junior goaltender Mia Iwicki is 4-1 on the year with a total of 177 saves.
The Codfish Bowl marks a return to non-conference action during the Thanksgiving weekend for the Herons after playing in their first four conference games over their past four matchups.
William Smith has done well during its first four State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) contests this regular season.
After dropping their conference opener against SUNY Plattsburgh on Nov. 14, the Herons have won three straight conference games.
In their most recent victory over SUNY Canton in overtime, Howe scored the game-winning goal in the overtime period.
That wild OT victory was a 2-1 final with the other William Smith goal coming off the stick of Hacker.
Both Hacker and Howe now look to play a role during this weekend’s Codfish Bowl. But, it’s going to take a full team effort from the Herons to capture this in-season tournament championship.
