Sad news came out today. Bryan Keller, the father of Utah Mammoth captain Clayton Keller, has passed away.
The sad and shocking news came ahead of the Utah Mammoth’s matchup against the Dallas Stars, with Tourginy opening up his typical pre-game interview with the difficult update.
“With a heavy heart, we had tough news as a family yesterday,” said head coach André Tourigny. “Clayton Keller’s dad (Bryan) passed away unexpectedly in his sleep.”
Keller also shared the news on his Instagram, reposting a photo he took with his father on June 18, 2017, which was Father’s Day, with the caption, “Love you dad RIP.”
“Keller has decided that despite the tragedy, he will still suit up for Utah’s game against the Dallas Stars.”
“Clayton wants to play and be with the team,” said Tourigny. “We want to express our condolences to the family, Clayton, his mom (Kelley), his brother (Jake). It’s a tough time for the family and we will support him in any way we can. We and the family ask everyone to respect their privacy.”
The Hockey News would also like to express its condolences to Keller and his family.
