DETROIT – The Detroit Red Wings once again scored enough to win but gave up too much and lost.

The Tampa Bay Lightning got a pair of goals from Yanni Gourde and defeated Detroit 6-3 Friday at Little Caesars Arena, winning their sixth in a row while handing the Red Wings their third consecutive loss.

The Red Wings (13-11-1) have dropped four of their past five, allowing 24 goals. The Lightning (15-7-2), despite missing stars Victor Hedman and Brayden Point due to injuries, have won 14 of their past 17.

Trailing 4-3, the Red Wings had a couple of chances during their only power play of the game midway through the third period but didn’t convert.

Jake Guentzel then scored with 7:23 remaining, a net-front redirection of Darren Raddysh’s shot and the Lightning regained their two-goal cushion.

Braden Hagel capped the scoring with an empty-net goal.

Andrei Vasilevskiy made 32 saves for the win. John Gibson, in his first appearance in four games, allowed five goals on 27 shots.

J.T. Compher and Michael Rasmussen each had a goal and an assist for the Red Wings and Dylan Larkin scored a goal.

The Lightning outscored the Red Wings 3-2 during an offensive outburst in the second period.

Gage Goncalves stole the puck from Albert Johansson by lifting his stick, broke in a lone and beat Gibson five-hole at the 34-second mark.

Gourde scored his first of two in the period at 3:01, banging away at the puck in the crease before lifting over a sprawled Gibson.

Rasmussen cut the deficit to 3-2 with his third of the season at 3:13.

Gourde blasted a shot past traffic at 16:09.

Larkin scored his 14th goal on a shot from a sharp angle at 18:26.

Compher opened the scoring at 11:29 of the first, firing in a shot from the faceoff dot for his fourth goal. Raddysh answered on the power play at 17:07, with a long blast through a screen.

The Red Wings visit the Boston Bruins on Saturday (7 p.m., FanDuel Sports Network).
