The Maine Women’s Ice Hockey Team opened their weekend series with HarvardĀ  down in Boston beating the Crimson 4-3 in overtime on Friday, November 28th.

After a scoreless 1st Period, Harvard opened the scoring, with 4:02 left in the 2nd Priod. Maine answered just 45 seconds later, when Raegan Wurm scored, assisted by Danielle Brunette. The game was tied 1-1 at the end of the 2nd Period.

Maine took a 2-1 lead with 5:53 gone in the 3rd Period, when Mackenzie Podewell scored, assisted by Lulu Rucinski, and Stephanie Jacob.

Harvard answered to tie the score at 2-2 with 10:14 left to play.

Maine’s Lily Fetch scored on a power play, with 5:36 let to play, assisted by Paige Fong to take a 3-2 lead.

Maine was on the verge of winning 3-2 in regulations, when Harvard scored on a power play with 20.8 seconds left to send the game into overtime with the game scored 3-3.

Gracie Hanson scored the game-winner with 3:13 gone in overtime, assisted by Brenna Curl and Raegan Wurn to give the Black Bears the win!

Maine was 1-4 on the power play while was 1-2.

Maine outshot Harvard 31-25. The Black Bears had 12 blocked shots, while Harvard had 13 blocked shots.

Kiia Lahtinen turned away 22 shots for Maine in net.

Maine is now 5-10-1 overall while Harvard is 5-5-1.

The 2 teams will play SaturdayĀ afternoon, November 29th with the puck dropping atĀ 3 p.m. You can watch the game on ESPN+.
