Liveblog: Canadiens down 2-0 to Avalanche (in Nordiques jerseys)

The Canadiens (13-7-3) will be taking on a familiar foe on Saturday afternoon in Denver. Well, sort of. The Colorado Avalanche (17-1-6) will be sporting Quebec Nordiques jerseys for their game against the Habs at Ball Arena.

Puck drop at 3 p.m. Montreal time (TSN2, RDS, TSN Radio 690, 98.5 FM).

That’s not a typo: the Avalanche have only lost once in regulation this season. They lost in a shootout to the Minnesota Wild on Friday.

The Habs, on the other hand, won their Friday matinee against the Vegas Golden Knights. They’ve won both games on their road trip thus far and can complete the sweep this afternoon.

Jakub Dobes gets the nod in goal after Samuel Montembeault played arguably his best game of the season in Vegas.

Brock Nelson opened scoring on Dobes to give the Avalanche/Nordiques a 1-0 lead at 7:32 of the first.

Montreal challenged goalie interference, but in the end lost the challenge and Nelson was credited with his second of the night.
