San Jose Sharks defenseman Vincent Desharnais will not play for the second straight game on Saturday.
Per SJHN, the Sharks’ top penalty killing defenseman will miss Saturday’s game due to an upper-body injury.
Desharnais didn’t play against the Vancouver Canucks, but San Jose Sharks coach Ryan Warsofsky did not mention any injury. The Sharks coach said he wanted to rotate the personnel.
The reason for not playing changed on Saturday, as the Sharks coach explained, Desharnais has been dealing with this injury for a little bit.

“He’s been dealing with this here for a little bit, so gotta get it looked at,” Warsofsky told SJHN.
Warsofsky says the injury should be considered day-to-day. It is unclear at this moment when Desharnais suffered the injury. The last time the d-man was on the ice was during practice on Thursday.

Desharnais is second among San Jose Sharks defensemen in shorthanded ice time per game, 3:27, and total for the season, 69:09. Only Mario Ferraro has higher numbers, but has played five more games. Desharnais is on the first PK unit, with Ferraro on defense and Collin Graf and Ty Dellandrea as the forwards.
If Desharnais is forced to go on injured reserve, that could free up space on the roster to add a forward. The Sharks could either call up a forward, activate Michael Misa from IR, or activate Jeff Skinner from IR.
